Rankability review (2026): how an AI search agency would assess it
Rankability is a broad agency SEO workspace with daily AI answer tracking on 11 platforms. We assessed it only on the parts of AI search we're paid for: prompt research, citations, AI crawler access and AI-referred traffic.
Rankability is built for agencies that do a bit of everything. One client workspace holds content projects, site audits, backlink research, weekly Google rankings, Local Pack grid scans and AI answer tracking, with unlimited seats and clients on every plan. For a full-service SEO shop that breadth is the selling point.
We aren't a full-service shop. We work on AI search only, and a client program with us gets judged on four things: whether we're tracking the prompts buyers actually ask, whether we understand the citations behind each answer, whether AI crawlers can and do reach the client's pages, and whether the visits that come back convert. That is the only lens we used. Most of what Rankability does on Google sits outside it, and we say nothing here about whether that part is good.
Sources: rankability.com, including its pricing, Tracker, Auditor and reviews pages, read on 28 October 2026. Promptwatch facts are from its llms.txt and llms-full.txt, re-checked the same day.
Prompt research
The Tracker is better than we expected on coverage. Every saved query runs daily on 11 platforms: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Brave AI, DeepSeek and Meta AI. That breadth is on every plan, not held back for the top tier.
The limit is the pool. Starter ($97 a month) gives 100 tracked queries, Agency ($297) gives 300 and Agency Pro ($497) gives 500, and the pool is shared across every client. Adding a workspace doesn't add capacity. If you run eight clients on Agency, each gets fewer than 40 prompts.
What we couldn't find is any demand signal. Rankability's plan pages list no prompt search volumes and no query fan-outs. When the budget is tight, that matters, because you have to choose which prompts are worth a slot.
Citations
Rankability reports whether answers mention the client, which pages they cite as sources, and how the client is described, with competitor comparisons. Clients can get a read-only portal, or a share link that opens without signing in and can be revoked later. The view can be AI-only or all-channel. For monthly reporting that covers the basics cleanly.
We spend most of a citation review in finer views: how cited domains trend over time, which Reddit or YouTube threads get pulled in, and which third-party pages name the client without linking. None of those are described on the Rankability pages we read, so ask for them in a demo before you plan a citation program around it.
AI crawler access
This is the gap we'd flag first. The Site Auditor checks crawler access along with indexability, canonicals and internal links, and its own page is honest about the method: "AI crawler access checks use robots.txt evidence. They help identify access restrictions; they do not prove that a platform has cited the page."
A robots.txt check tells you whether GPTBot is allowed in. It doesn't tell you whether GPTBot came, how often, which pages it skipped, or whether its requests failed. When a strong page never gets cited, missing or failed crawls are one of the first things we rule out, and you can only see those in server-side logs. Rankability doesn't publish a log product.
AI-referred traffic
Rankability's reports can bring in connected Search Console and Analytics data, which is useful context. It doesn't publish a visitor script of its own that ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. So the question every client eventually asks, "what is this worth to us?", has to be answered somewhere else.
Where it fits
Agencies whose main product is content and classic SEO, and who want AI answers in the same report, will get a lot out of it. Most of the G2 and Capterra quotes Rankability picks for its own reviews page are about the content optimizer. "Rankability has helped fast track our content creation" is how one G2 reviewer, Frank Y., put it in August 2025. That matches how the product reads: a writing workspace that grew a tracker.
How we'd run the program
For the four parts we're accountable for, we'd run measurement on Promptwatch, the platform we run client programs on. Prompt Volumes and per-model fan-outs give each prompt a demand signal before it takes a slot. Citation analytics go to page and domain level, with Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn citation reports and offsite mentions. Agent Analytics logs IP-verified visits from GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Meta's crawlers, with a crawl-to-citation path and error explanations. Visitor analytics, installed with a script, the GTM template or the WordPress plugin, ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. Every agency plan includes unlimited prompts and projects, crawler logs and visitor analytics, starting with Kick-off at $199 a month.
If your team already writes in Rankability, keep it for drafts. Just don't let a robots.txt pass stand in for proof that the crawlers showed up.
